Washington, D.C. — Pro-Life Global, a leading international pro-life organization, strongly condemns the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and calls for its immediate repeal. This law, purportedly designed to safeguard abortion access and religious freedom, is fundamentally discriminatory, cruel, and an affront to justice. The Act imposes severe penalties, including 11 years in prison, and fines of up to $250k, on those who engage in peaceful counseling.
“The FACE Act has been disproportionately and unjustly weaponized to target pro-life advocates," said Bethany Janzen, President of Pro-Life Global. “Meanwhile, the Department of Justice has failed to address the increasing violence and intimidation against pregnancy centers and churches, something the law was originally intended to do.”
Over 400 churches have been attacked since the leaked Dobbs decision in May of 2020. Despite these vicious attacks, not a single case has been prosecuted under the FACE Act. Pro-life activists have been charged 126 times under the same Act, compared to only three pro-abortion activists.
“This blatant double standard is unacceptable,” Janzen continued. “The FACE Act is not only being misapplied, it is also being used to stifle the vital work of those seeking to save lives.”
It’s time to repeal the FACE Act. Pro-Life Global urges lawmakers to stop the Department of Justice’s weaponization against the American people. True justice lies in protecting the rights of all—including the preborn and those who advocate for them.
